It's easier to fly than to push.

During the summer of 2012 I soared up the Sierra mountain range, across the Nevada desert and into the Idaho high plains.

Inside a glacier

I spent a month during the summer of 2007 in Alaska. This photo was taken inside the Mendenhall Glacier in 2007 by self timer. Patty would not even consider climbing down into the ice.

Solo on Mt. Denali

My intentions were to spend one night in my tent to capture magic hour photos. I ended up stuck high on the Pika Glacier for three days in a white-out blizzard.

Float plane drop-off in Ketchikan backcountry

We stayed three days in 2007 on this beautiful lake fishing and staying in a government log cabin for $25/night.

Playing Cricket in Chennai, India

Traveling with my friend Hari, we came across this friendly group who invited me to play. I never hit one ball from the bowler...way too fast!!

Zhujiajiao, China traveling with my daughter Lauren.

Traveling on business, I hired a nanny to care for Lauren. She brought us to this ancient water village near Shanghai.

I believe sharing can change people's lives . . . is that crazy?

Life is either a daring adventure or nothing. -Helen Keller

What is my current adventure?

I am flying with my 17 year old daughter to Kathmandu, Nepal and then on to Lukla airstrip cut into the side of a mountian at approximately 9,000 feet above sea level. It is affectionately known as the most dangerous airport in the world. We will be volunteering together in a Buddhist monastery teaching young monks English. These monks come from Khumbu region Sherpa families who place their first born sons into the monastery. Teaching English to these young monks is very valuable when they come of age to chose for themselves to continue their life as a monk, or enter into life outside the monastery where English will provide them a better opportunity for a higher standard of living. The Khumbu region has become a tourism hotspot for trekkers ascending the trails to Mt. Everest and other Himalayan peaks. The standard of living for those Sherpa people involved in tourism as improved greatly, but for those who do not know English it is much more difficult. We have read many accounts of volunteers with incredible admiration for the Sherpa people. We are so excited for this extraordinary opportunity.
