Dengboche

We are in Dengboche near Tengboche.  The suspension bridge broke yesterday and fell into the river below yesterday.  No one died, but this is a big problem because this was the primary route for our journey and now we need to find another way around.  It is actually a big deal for the whole area because all the trade in this area relies on this bridge for transporting goods.  We think we have a solution with an old Sherpa trail, but it will add 2-3 hours to our 6 hour trek to Periche at 14,000 feet tomorrow.

(08-28) 13:25 PDT Oakland — Transbay travelers may want to avoid their cars in the coming days, as the Bay Bridge will be shut down at 8 p.m. Wednesday and remain closed over the Labor Day weekend.

BUT adding 2-3 hours @ that elevation = O MY

    Christian,
I’ve been checking out your “Tracking Map”, good to see you made it to Pherrche. It looks like most villages have bunk houses, which makes sense because of limited resources.

Someone should write a song about that…
